THE ATONEMENT *****

Angelos Myriofytis

OFFICIAL REVIEW

By Phillip G. Brewer. Mar 28, 2025

The Atonement by Angelos Myriofytis is a book I couldn't put down before reaching the end. All the characters are real, and the story unfolds cinematically. The simple and understandable writing flows effortlessly, completing all the images before the reader's eyes. The author uses narrative writing with a rich vocabulary, describing the events as a narrator without tedious dialogues.

Victor indirectly wins battles as a lawyer, exonerating the guilty or relieving companies of compensation that should be given to victims. He covers himself by saying, "This is the nature of the job." But when he falls ill with a rare disease, two angels meet him and convince him that his actions caused the disease. They give him a gift to heal others but not himself.

Victor realizes the futility of material goods and changes course, helping those around him in any way he can, starting with pets. His meeting with Alexis, a veterinarian and volunteer for the care of stray animals, opens the horizons of his thinking. Thus, he comes to terms with his impending death while offering generously to his fellow human beings.

This book is exciting because it introduces us to a world full of mystery and adventure. It's easy to understand and has interesting characters who teach us extraordinary things about the relationship between actions and fate. The story keeps us hooked from start to finish, and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. The suspense was the most interesting element in this book. I won't forget to mention the flawless editing of this book, as I did not notice any errors while reading.

It would have been better to have dialogue when the two attorneys examined witnesses in the courtroom. Also, the last chapter could have been developed more. These were the only dislikes I could point out while reading. However, they did not affect my reading, so I will rate this book five out of five stars.

This book would interest readers who enjoy thought-provoking and philosophical narratives as it delves into complex concepts about time, actions, fate, and retribution of kindness. Angelos Myriofytis is a promising young author with amazing ideas and a unique style, making for a relaxing read. We hope he continues in the same vein.
